International Education WeekInternational Education Week

International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Initiated in 2000 by the US Department of State and the Department of Education, the week is dedicated to enhancing international awareness across UC San Diego campus as well as to reinforcing the importance of the exchange of students and scholars across borders.

International Family OrientationInternational Family Orientation

International Faculty & Scholars Office (IFSO) hosts a special orientation that will provide information on educational and fun activities for international students and their families to participate in during their stay in San Diego. International students in any visa status and their family members are welcome to attend this orientation. International Student Advisory Council (ISAC)

ISAC is a forum that is comprised of key international student leaders from a variety of student organizations that gives them an opportunity to share members’ perspectives about campus initiatives and programs. ISAC’s goal is to receive valuable feedback from international students on the unique needs and challenges they face as well as sharing relevant information and resources that are available to them. Meetings are held monthly throughout the Academic year.


International Graduate Student Advisory Council (IGSAC)

IGSAC is a forum that is comprised of key international graduate student leaders from a variety of student organizations. The goals are to share relevant information and for the International Center staff to form a stronger collaboration with student organizations primarily focused on serving international graduate students.

Friends' Resale ShopFriends' Resale Shop

The Resale Shop, at the UC San Diego International Center, is an on-campus thrift store. Proceeds from the sale of gently used clothes, books and household items fund scholarships for international education. Volunteers and donation of goods are welcome. Call (858) 534-1124 for more information.

The English-in-Action CL program (EIA) is a volunteer-run program that helps international students, scholars and their spouses with English language skills. Anyone can volunteer to be a Conversation Leader!   All you need is interest in learning about new cultures while helping the international community acclimate to their new environment.

Triton Edge is an all-inclusive, rigorous summer program for international freshmen that provides a pathway to advancing toward a degree while learning about UC San Diego and life in the USA in a safe, supportive environment. 

Language ExchangeLanguage Exchange

Help someone learn your language and enjoy conversational practice in their language in exchange. Just join the Language Exchange Facebook Page and post your native language,  what language you'd like to practice, your contact information and any other information you'd like to share. Partners will contact each other through Facebook and start practicing each others' language!

Orientation Assistant (OA) ProgramOrientation Assistant (OA) Program

Help our newcomers get acclimated to their new environment New International Student Orientation, held every fall. As a volunteer Orientation Assistant, you will play an integral role in welcoming hundreds of international students, researchers, faculty, and family members to the UC San Diego campus, while learning about different cultures and having a great time!

Friday CafeFriday International Café

Interact with members of the UC San Diego community from all over the world while eating a delicious meal during our International Café held every Friday during the academic year (weeks 1-10) from noon to 1:15 p.m. at the Great Hall of the International House. Everyone and anyone is welcome!

International students can spend the Thanksgiving holiday with UC San Diego and local San Diego families to enjoy the Thanksgiving meal together and engage in cultural exchange.

Intercultural Social Hour Intercultural Social Hour

Intercultural Social Hour is an event occurring on the last Tuesday of every month, from 4:30pm-6:00pm in Student Center B, and it is sponsored by the International Students & Programs Office for UC San Diego international and domestic students to share their cultures and make new friends through conversation, games and light refreshments!
