Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How has ISPO designed New International Student Orientation to fit into my schedule?

  • ISPO’s New International Student Orientation was designed with different time zones and student interests in mind! Orientation follows a workshop or line-up format, in which different sessions are held at every hour of the day during September 8th - September 187h.
  • Sessions range from regulatory workshops such as learning about your immigration documents and regulations to learning how to acclimate to university life. Additionally, you will notice that some of the sessions are repeating - please note that these are the same sessions but offered at different times in order to accommodate time zones and schedule conflicts. ISPO has designed a virtual Welcome Packet to help engage our new admits and help them prepare for the journey ahead!

Am I required to attend ISPO's Orientation?

  • In addition to attending your college, Division of Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs, and/or department orientations, ISPO requires all newly admitted international students to register for ISPO's Orientation.
  • In order to register for New International Student Orientation, you are required to sign up for two sessions in September: one required "Know the Rules" session and one session of your choice! You are also welcome to register for as many sessions as you would like, but two minimum are required.

Is attendance required if I'm starting my program remotely this fall?
